Requesting and Using Organisation and Personal Information
We take your privacy seriously. Bionow is a not-for-profit membership organisation for companies and organisations within the life sciences sector in the North. Bionow’s core business is the provision of membership services to our Members and the delivery of networking events and conferences for the benefit of the northern life sciences sector as a whole. Our customers are people from member organisations who register as users, people who register to attend Bionow events and those who register to receive the Bionow newsletter.
During online registration we request information about your organisation including the organisation name, area of business, number of employees, website and business address. Our aim in collecting this information is to better understand what you and your organisation will find most useful within our website and other resources so that Bionow can continually improve its services.
On registration for Membership or Event booking we also request personal information including your name, organisation, job title, business email address, and office phone/business mobile number. We collect these personal data from our customers so that we can include you on the Bionow Mailing List and thereby contact you with relevant information about our services and events, via our regular customer e-newsletters.
Bionow holds and processes this personal information submitted by our customers under the lawful basis of Legitimate Interest and customers can unsubscribe from the Bionow Mailing List at any time.
Bionow’s wider network
As an organisation, Bionow strives to support the whole northern life sciences sector, so Bionow’s network of contacts extends well beyond our direct customers. Bionow has built and maintains an extensive network which includes people we have met and through various enquiries we receive via telephone and email in which personal details are exchanged via mutual consent. We may also gather details from publicly available sources e.g. company websites to strengthen and grow the Bionow network of relevant businesses and the key individuals involved. In all cases the personal data held is securely held within a CRM and is restricted to name, organisation, job title, business email, office phone and business mobile. Organisations and key contacts may be profiled by business area and expertise respectively. Bionow does not hold personal data beyond the point of relevance in accordance with the principle of privacy by design.
Anyone can make a request to see their personal data held by Bionow on our website (www.bionow.co.uk), the CRM or e-marketing system and a report will be provided. In addition, anyone can request that their personal data is erased, however such erasure may mean that the individual can no longer access Bionow services such as online event bookings. All members of staff at Bionow process personal data in the usual course of providing services to our Members, managing event attendance or carrying out business transactions. Bionow does not hold personal data which would compromise the rights and freedoms of individuals if a data breach were to occur and all staff are trained in the importance of data accuracy and the confidential nature of personal data held by Bionow.
