Helen was invited to attend a graduation ceremony on 30th July at the Barbican Centre in London. Here she was presented with her Honorary Fellowship award by Professor Elizabeth Hill, Deputy President, City St George’s, University of London. In accepting her award Helen gave an address to the graduating students and their families.
The award was made in recognition of her outstanding contribution in the field of Clinical Pharmacology.
Helen began her career in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals at AstraZeneca at Alderley Park in the combined DMPK and Clinical Pharmacology group. Deciding to follow a path in Clinical Pharmacology Helen moved into the clinical team when the two disciplines were separated. Later Helen was appointed Head of Clinical Pharmacology, Oncology and briefly Headed the Global Bioanalytical and Biomarker Department. Upon leaving AstraZeneca in 2022 Helen founded Limina Clinical Pharmacology a consultancy company providing individualised clinical pharmacology support to biotech and pharma companies.
Throughout her career Helen has been keen to share her experience to encourage and develop others. Helen is currently an Honorary Associate Professor at University of Warwick and is a past chair of the British Pharmacology Society (BPS) Industry Sub-Committee. Helen was involved in developing an apprenticeship in Clinical Pharmacology (a collaboration between BPS and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)) and has worked with the Clinical Pharmacology BSc team at City St George’s to help them develop their programme.
In his invitation to accept the award Professor Sir Anthony Finklestein, President City St George’s commented “Council particularly noted the important role you have played in the development of the BSc in Clinical Pharmacology and particularly in helping us visualise how graduates of our programme might be useful and competitive in the jobs market and understand potential careers tracks. This informed development of course modules and our skills portfolio - where students develop and demonstrate work-ready skills; and has been a significant factor in the success and elevated standing of the degree programme.”
Helen was honoured to receive the award and thanks the university for the recognition.
