Aptamer Group’s CEO, Dr Arron Tolley, has been awarded a Visiting Professorship in Biological and Translational Sciences from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey, in recognition of his technical and commercial aptitude in the life science space.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to have Arron as a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey. He will bring immense expertise in biomedical innovation and demonstrate invaluable insights into managing the academe to SME journey. It’s not an easy journey, but with Arron’s energy and flair, I hope he can help encourage and mentor new and established academics, staff, and students keen to drive real-world impact.”
Professor Paul Townsend, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey
Key to his appointment at the University were Dr Tolley’s skills in technology and business development, his ability to leverage investment and his understanding of translational science. This was recognised by the University following his close work for a number of years with Professor Paul Townsend, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
Dr Tolley holds a PhD in Structural Biology and Biophysics from the University of Leeds. Following his PhD he co-founded Aptamer Group, the developer of next-generation aptamers to enable innovation in the life sciences industry, and has since developed the aptamer platform technology and the Company to its recent AIM listing. He joins an esteemed list of fellow Honorary Professors and Aptamer Group is extremely proud of his achievements for the Company, our global clients and the broader life science space as a whole.
“I’m really pleased to be working with the University of Surrey and excited about the opportunity to examine cutting-edge scientific developments to see how these could translate into impactful advances that will deliver improved healthcare and faster research solutions. I’ve always had a passion for developing new innovations to meet the gaps in current research and development needs, and I look forward to working with the scientists at the University of Surrey to understand and help translate their discoveries.”
