Bionow welcomes ApconiX Co-founder Ruth Roberts to the Board

Bionow are delighted to announce our newest Board member, Prof Ruth Roberts. Ruth is a Co-founder of ApconiX, an integrated toxicology and ion channel company that offers a breadth and depth of nonclinical safety expertise generally only available to large pharma. She is also the Chair and Director of Drug Discovery at Birmingham University and Past Chair of the Health and Environmental Science Institute (HESI) Board, co-chairing the HESI Biomarkers of Neurotoxicity and the Targeted Protein Degraders technical committees.
Ruth is a Fellow and past president of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences (ATS) and was elected fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2012 and of the Royal Society of Biology in 2014. With more than 180 publications in peer reviewed journals, she is interested in developing and implementing innovative models in drug discovery and development and particularly in ensuring academic research achieves its translational potential.
Commenting on her appointment, Ruth said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Bionow Board and look forward to contributing to the continued growth of its reach and impact across the North. I’m particularly excited to engage directly with members and use my experience and network across pharma, biotech and academia to open doors, create new opportunities, and strengthen cross-sector collaboration.”
