FRESH CALL FOR BIOSCIENCE BOSSES TO JOIN PIONEERING CAREERS INITIATIVE

The Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority have launched a new call for bioscience businesses to get involved with their £3million Tees Valley Careers initiative.

They are looking for business leaders who want to inspire the next generation of scientists and promote the region’s growing bioscience sector to young people.

Tees Valley Careers aims to give every pupil across the Tees Valley, in every school and college, direct and meaningful employer engagements throughout their education.

This direct contact will help young people make key decisions regarding their future career paths, learning about sectors, jobs, and opportunities they may have never considered before and in turn help build their confidence to achieve their aspirations.

Research shows that pupils who receive four or more meaningful engagements with employers between the ages of 11-16 years are 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education and training and on average earn 22% more.

There are a range of different ways that business leaders can get involved depending on how much time and commitment they can give. It could be delivering a talk about what they do in their everyday role or supporting a school at a more strategic level as an Enterprise Adviser.

Currently there are a number of school requests for local business engagement. To find out more about how to get involved and to consider the options available, please email the Tees Valley Careers Team on join@teesvalleycareers.com
