University of Hull to launch world-class Health Research Institute

The University of Hull is to launch of the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) and Hull Health Trials Unit (HHTU) next month.

The vision of the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research is to build on the university's world-class research environment, undertaking high quality health research that impacts positively on patients, service users, the public and populations locally, nationally and internationally. The Hull Health Trials Unit (HHTU) provides the expertise needed to lead and support high-quality clinical trials from conception through to completion and enables clinicians and academics to carry out vital work that will have a real impact on healthcare. The university’s health research is already a major strength, helping to address critical health issues in our region and beyond, with 87% of the university’s research classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent'.

Rt Hon Alan Johnson, former MP for Hull and Hessle and former Health Secretary, will deliver one of the afternoon’s keynote speeches, following which there will be a range of interactive workshops and poster displays showcasing the Institute's work and activity.
