North East Pharma, Health Tech and Life Sciences Landscape Survey 2024: North East Life Sciences Sector Optimistic for 2025.

A survey assessing the state of the North East’s life sciences sector has highlighted growing confidence among businesses for the year ahead.

The inaugural North East Pharma, Health Tech and Life Sciences Landscape Survey 2024 gathered insights from more than 30 companies, offering a snapshot of industry trends, challenges, and opportunities. We worked with The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI UK) on the survey and found that 75% of respondents—90% of which were SMEs—expected improved financial performance in 2025.

Among the key drivers of this optimism are expanding opportunities in the US market, revenue growth, and continued technological advancements.

Despite this positive outlook, the survey also identified concerns around funding disparities and a lack of high-quality workspace, which could hinder the sector’s progress. Addressing these challenges is seen as essential to maintaining the region’s upward trajectory.
