A4I: Latest funding opportunity opens 29 July Analysis for Innovators (A4I) gives UK businesses access to cutting-edge R&D, expertise and facilities to help solve analysis or measurement problems that can't be cracked using standard technologies and techniques. This popular funding programme is aimed at businesses of any size and, in the first instance, you only need to explain your problem to apply.

UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £4 million to work with the best scientists and research facilities to resolve productivity and competitiveness issues. A4I has funded more than 100 projects.

The 5th round of A4I is opening on 29 July

After four successful rounds, which between them have supported over 400 companies, Analysis for Innovators, Round 5 will open on the 29 July. The detailed scope of Round 5 will be released in mid-July and the main competition briefing will be held in London on the 31 July.

Prior to the competition opening, there will be a series of roadshow events organised during July:
19th July at National Physical Laboratory in Teddington
22nd July at the studio... in Glasgow
23rd July at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxford
24th July at Hartree Centre in STFC Daresbury
31st July at Hallam Conference Centre in London (Available via webcast)

Who is involved?
A4I is an investment from Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, alongside funding partners the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the National Measurement Laboratory at LGC (formerly known as the Laboratory of the Government Chemist), the National Engineering Laboratory (NEL) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

Together the funding partners run some of the most advanced facilities, techniques and technologies available in the world. A4I matches the best UK scientists and facilities with companies that have analysis or measurement problems.

The A4I programme differs from other funding competitions, targeting competitiveness and productivity head on it offers cutting edge R&D, expertise and facilities to UK companies that want to solve an analysis or measurement problem from within their existing business.

 Who can apply?
Any size businesses with any type of measurement or analysis problem are able to apply. The programme is expected to appeal to manufacturing companies, especially those involved in complex supply chains, but companies applying may be from any sector.
