Conference Countdown…

Welcome to my BioCap Conference blog. The Bionow team are really looking forward to welcoming you to BioCap 2018 at Alderley Park on the 27th September, we have been working hard on an expansive and exciting programme, and it promises to be a day well spent for all.

Today, I just want to outline some of the key features in this year’s programme and what we have being doing to ensure that BioCap builds upon its reputation as a key conference for the life sciences of the north.

The showcase competition has already opened and is available for all established life science companies wishing to raise £500k or more. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business to over 60 specialist life science investors. These are investors who are looking for life science investment opportunities, and can provide finance and mentorship, it is a great opportunity, and is one of the best things about BioCap, it helps sustain and support that next generation of northern life science companies We all know one of the biggest challenges many companies face is access to capital and we are hoping to contribute to making this a little easier.

One of the most exciting changes we have made this year is a new session dedicated to highlighting what exciting ideas are to be commercialised next. Bionow is the membership organisation that supports the North’s life science sector, and as such we have reached out to our university sponsors across the North of England and asked them to put forward their dynamic and innovative next wave of spin out companies. BioCap 2018 will therefore have a new session aimed specifically at start-ups and pre-start up coming from our University sponsors. This promises to be a fascinating session as it will expose these ideas to investors and give them an opportunity to see what is ‘next down the line.’

We are also experiencing the 4th industrial revolution, and it is only right that BioCap reflects this. There are enormous opportunities for life sciences and digitalisation, with the advent of personalised medicine, digitalisation of pharma, e-health, digital apps and simulated drug development, the list goes on. We are really pleased to have a session covering the increasing interaction between life science and tech.

Seed and enterprise investment opportunities will also be having a session with several SME’s showcasing their exciting innovations, and we will explore the opportunities that these tax effective investment approaches can offer to more companies within the sector.

BioCap 2018 will also have a range of investor insight talks throughout the day, which give the delegates an insight into the perspective of the investor, and the opportunity to learn from case studies and their anecdotal experiences. These talks will prove to be invaluable to many of the companies showcasing and attending on the day.

Finally, the venue is fantastic, Alderley Park Conference Centre is a great setting for this event, ample parking is available, and a train station is only a few miles away. The conference centre is spacious with ample space for networking and exhibiting, with purpose-built conference rooms, and the floor plan lends itself to lots of interaction between delegates, exhibitors and speakers, in short, it is a great venue for this event.

I’ll be back with further updates soon, and I look forward to meeting you on the 27th September.

All the best

Geoff
