Ian Jacob, Principal Health Economist at HCD Economics commenced the programme with an in-depth session on Health Economics – vital for understanding how decisions are made to adopt and reimburse new devices and therapies – and the evidence in terms of patient benefit and overall value for money that is needed at each stage. This was the first of six fortnightly sessions which run through to late June.
The programme underpins STFC’s investment in the Campus Technology Hub and laboratory facilities for biomedical companies onsite, and their ambition to grow a medtech cluster out of Sci-tech Daresbury.
