Since
Arrow’s inception at Newcastle University in 2019, we’ve helped over 150 regional businesses develop new products and services through targeted innovation projects. The projects range from helping Fyto understand the optimum light conditions for plant growth, assisting Armatrex in developing expanding foam splints for use in emergency situations globally, and linking biotech start-up
Nanovery with our
Centre for Cancer to prototype their innovative nano-robots to deliver drugs for cancer.
This bespoke support has helped the region’s businesses thrive. An independent report calculated that the organisations we’ve supported from the initial four-year phase of Arrow will have:
- Developed 53 new products or services
- Created 143 new jobs
- Increased turnover by £16.9m
- Increased private investment by 2.6 millionArrow aims to support over 100 more businesses over the next year, meaning these outputs will increase further.
Businesses can now draw on the support from across four of the region’s leading universities: Durham University, Newcastle University, Northumbria University and the University of Sunderland.
The fully-funded support offered by Arrow is thanks to UK Shared Prosperity funding through Durham County Council and the North of Tyne Combined Authority.
