Taking place at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford for the first time and in partnership with the University of Bradford, the third edition of Yorkshire Bio-Partnering focused on industry-academic collaboration and the many types of funding and support available for innovation.

Discussion centred around collaborative research funding and support in the Yorkshire region, AI applications in healthcare and sustainability in bioscience, along with opportunities to network and take part in partnering meetings to facilitate connections between attendees.

The two keynotes on the day celebrated collaborative success stories: Lifted Ventures Co-Founder, UKBAA Board Member and interim CEO of the Conduit Connect, Helen Oldham; and Helen Philippou, Professor of Translational Medicine at the University of Leeds, CEO of ClotProtect Therapeutics, and Founder and Board Member of LUNAC Therapeutics.

Bionow and the University of Bradford were proud to have two female keynotes at this important event. The first of which, conducted by Helen Oldham, discussed the wider ecosystem for investment and spin-outs across the north of England, and how regional universities are climbing the national charts for spin out foundations. It also focused on the importance of supporting female founders, breaking down barriers and how investment vehicles such as Lifted Ventures, Fund her North and Women Angels of the North are having a positive impact.

The second keynote of the day was by serial academic entrepreneur and company founder Professor Helen Philippou. Helen talked about her ground-breaking research in the therapeutic field, and how this has led to the founding of two spin-outs, LUNAC Therapeutics and ClotProtect, to carry forward these therapeutics to improve patient outcomes and build innovative companies.

Bionow’s Membership Manager for the North East & Yorkshire, David Holmes commented: “We had a great turnout for this year’s Yorkshire Bio-Partnering event – there was a real energy in the room as lots of productive relationships were founded. This conference is rapidly becoming a key event in the ecosystem of the Yorkshire region with great talks, discussions, meetings, networking, and exhibition. We look forward to seeing the future collaborative results and innovations off the back of this event.”
