Nexus Labs announces seed funding from Catapult Ventures and BioCity to launch SurgicalTeaching.com

Nexus Labs, a pioneering medical education startup, today announced the completion of a Seed funding round to launch its first product, SurgicalTeaching.com a digital platform aimed at enhancing the learning experience of students and doctors around the world. The funding came from the GM&C Life Sciences Fund, managed by Catapult Ventures; and Alderley Park Ventures, managed by BioCity.
Surgical Teaching aims to simplify the theoretical and practical learning experience of medical students and doctors. Through combining CGI animations, real-life video footage and user performance analytics, Surgical Teaching complements medical school curriculum and helps to prepare students for both their examinations and life as a doctor.
Nexus Labs was founded by Dr Glyn Estebanez, a Surgeon who is passionate about the use of digital technology to elevate the learning experience and learning potential of users. Nexus Labs’ talented team will be relocating to Alderley Park, where they will continue to develop SurgicalTeaching.com and its innovative digital education content.
In addition to the investment, Chris Spencer, a Digital Health Advisor with Catapult Ventures, will be acting as an advisor to the Company. Until April 2017 Chris was CEO of EMIS Group Plc where he had held senior roles since 1999, including as a director of EMIS Professional Publishing.
