Strem Chemicals UK have released metal naphthenates used for a variety of applications
Published on 08/10/2018
The metal naphthenate combination occurs naturally with mixtures of cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid moities (primarily cyclopentyl and cyclohexyl) with varying structures (10 to 16 carbons long) isolated from crude oil. Metal naphthenates are salts of these naphthenic acids1 having the formula M(Naphthenate)2.2 They can be found naturally from the combination of naphthenic acids in crude oil with metal ions contained in water.
These naphthenate salts are soluble in certain organic carrier liquids and are an effective source of metal ions in organic media. Traditional applications2 include use in paint drying, wood treatment, anti-fouling agents, detergents, insecticides, fungicides, wetting agents, lubricants, surfactants, and corrosion inhibitors.
Listed below are various metal naphthenates that Strem has available for purchase in the UK, we have many in stock, so phone us for advice
