Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Starting from £23,000 pa, dependant on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses
Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of 18+ Physical Chemistry scientists.  The team is responsible for delivering high-quality aqueous solubility, lipophilicity, aqueous chemical stability and matrix-binding data to our clients, supporting their drug discovery activities.

Role as our Associate Scientist

As an Associate Scientist, you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that Physical Chemistry assays, both commercial and R&D focussed, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled timeframes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare, monitor and maintain compounds, stock solutions, buffers and any other assay-related materials.
  • To be responsible for the validation and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • To assist in running and maintaining liquid-handling robots to support high throughput processes.
  • To support the execution of assigned routine and bespoke assays.
  • To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • To assist in data analysis and interpretation.
  • To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
  • To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
  • To assist in the supervision and mentoring of trainees and other support staff when required.
  • To participate in initiatives to improve group processes and make efficiency gains in assays.
  • To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of general laboratory processes is essential.
  • BSc in Chemistry, Drug Metabolism or a related field, or at least 2 years’ experience working within a related laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.
  • Computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Office.
  • Direct experience in working with automated liquid handling systems, liquid chromatography and mass spectroscopy instruments is advantageous.
