Direct Report: to Associate Principal Scientist, Drug Metabolism
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £20,200 pa, dependant on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses
Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, exciting opportunities have arisen to join our team of 30+ drug metabolism scientists.  We are responsible for delivering high-quality metabolic stability, enzyme inhibition, enzyme kinetics and enzyme induction data to our clients supporting projects from early discovery right through to clinical development.

Role of Laboratory Assistant for Drug Metabolism Team

As a Laboratory Assistant within the Science Department, you will work in the ADME team.  You will perform a support role to the various scientists within the team, carrying out tasks both independently and under supervision that will enable the team to deliver high-quality work to our customers.  Cyprotex will support you with relevant training and enable you to build a successful career within our organization

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of compound stocks, buffers, media and other materials required for experimental work.
  • Monitoring of consumables stock levels in the laboratory and re-stocking shelves.
  • General laboratory housekeeping.
  • Calibration of pipettes and robotics systems.
  • Helping to gather compounds and consumables ready for assays and tidying away afterwards.
  • Cleaning of the cell culture facilities and potentially basic cell culture tasks.
  • Contributing to process improvement and the sharing of new ideas within the team.
  • Archiving of paperwork.
  • Complying fully with the company safety policy.
  • Adhering to the Cyprotex Quality Procedures.
  • With further training and experience, supporting our customer projects by conducting scientific experiments with defined, agreed objectives and timelines.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Science A-level (or equivalent)
  • Desire to gain experience in a scientific environment
  • Reliable and motivated.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other people.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.

  • Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
