Why this role is important for CPI’s work
CPI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Scientist domain knowledge expert in Nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems, working with both internal and external partners, to provide deep technology capability that enables the development and practice of CPI’s scientific knowledge. The role will focus on the creation and delivery of a range of projects to support the development of advanced drug products utilising Nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems for intracellular delivery, such as Lipid Nanoparticle Encapsulated RNA, with an emphasis on formulation development, optimisation and process development and scale-up.
Working within the current Colloid Science team, the Principal Scientist will be responsible for developing and delivering CPI’s capability in Nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems, creating innovative solutions to problem- solving and continuously working within a dynamic and fast-moving environment. You will be required to support key activities including:
Contributing expert knowledge to inform CPI’s technology strategy and translating this into deliverable plans to achieve business objectives.
Developing and retaining relevant knowledge and capability in nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems, to support the UK industry in the translation of state-of-the-art ideas into commercially viable processes and products.
Working collaboratively with Business Development, Bid Development and technical colleagues, providing support relating to proposal/project development and direct customer engagement, seeking out and engaging in business development opportunities where appropriate.

The person we are seeking
The ideal candidate is a Principal Scientist who:
Holds excellent knowledge of global and UK challenges in Nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems and the role innovation can play in addressing those challenges.
Has experience working within the pharma industry, specifically in Nanotherapeutic drug delivery systems.
Has experience in technical leadership through driving and directing teams to successfully develop and deliver large innovation programmes.
Will bring deep expertise in nanotherapeutic drug delivery scale-up and process development, strong problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for leading programs across various stages of development.
Is flexible and can adapt, can simultaneously work on multiple projects and enjoys working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with effective influencing and communication skills.
Has knowledge and potentially practical experience of current state-of-the-art laboratory equipment used for drug product development and can advise on and interpret data generated using such techniques.
