Opportunity for Bionow members: Collaborate with the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Biomedical Innovation
Training and Courses
25 Jun 2026
Bionow members are invited to explore collaboration opportunities with the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Biomedical Innovation, AI4BI CDT, based at the University of Edinburgh.
The AI4BI CDT is training the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers working at the interface of artificial intelligence, biomedical science, healthcare and responsible innovation. The Centre works with industry, NHS and public sector partners to co-develop PhD research projects that address real-world challenges and support the translation of AI research into practical healthcare and life sciences applications.
Companies working in life sciences, diagnostics, medtech, pharma, digital health, public health and related biomedical sectors are invited to connect with the CDT to discuss potential PhD project ideas and studentship collaborations.
Collaboration opportunities may include:
Proposing a PhD project aligned with your organisation’s R&D priorities
Co-developing AI solutions for areas such as diagnostics, drug discovery, clinical decision support, digital pathology or early disease detection
Hosting a student placement to bring cutting-edge AI expertise into your organisation
Exploring co-funded studentships or longer-term strategic partnerships
Joining cross-sector discussions to help shape future biomedical AI research themes
AI4BI CDT partnerships are designed to be flexible, with options ranging from early exploratory conversations through to co-funded studentships and multi-year collaborations. Projects are developed with University supervisors and doctoral researchers to ensure they are scientifically robust, industry-relevant and focused on real-world impact.
