Codis Completes Demolition and Begins Construction on PSD-4 Expansion at Haverhill
Codis has reached the next major milestone in the expansion of its Haverhill, UK manufacturing site, with demolition now complete and construction underway for its new PSD-4 facility.
Codis is a global contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) specialising in commercial spray drying, amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs), particle engineering and finished dose manufacturing, with cGMP facilities across the US and UK.
The Haverhill investment will add a GEA Pharma-SD® type PSD-4 solvent-capable spray dryer, significantly expanding Codis’ commercial-scale spray drying capacity for ASDs. The new facility is planned to be operational in 2027.
The PSD-4 will complement Codis’ existing PSD-2 capability at Haverhill, strengthening the pathway available to customers as programmes progress from development through to large-scale commercial manufacturing.
The expansion also builds on Codis’ capabilities in Nottingham. Following completion of the Nottingham acquisition in August 2026, Codis brought together development-scale spray drying, oral solid dose formulation, analytical services, clinical supply and small-scale commercial manufacturing in Nottingham with its expanding commercial-scale spray drying operations in Haverhill.
The Nottingham facility brings more than two decades of experience in formulation development, spray drying, analytical services, clinical supply and oral solid dose manufacturing. Together, Nottingham and Haverhill provide an integrated UK pathway from development-scale spray drying and formulation through clinical supply, technology transfer and commercial-scale spray drying.
With demolition of the existing redundant facility now complete and construction underway, the PSD-4 project marks another major step in the expansion of Codis’ UK capabilities and its ability to support pharmaceutical programmes as they progress towards commercial manufacture.
