Founded in 2024 as a spin-out from the University of Nottingham School of Life Sciences, MiDx is developing a novel urine-based diagnostic to enable the early detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in people with Cystic Fibrosis and other complex respiratory conditions. Its lead product, the Rapid P. aeruginosa Detection (RPaD) lateral flow device, delivers results from a simple urine sample in around 20 minutes, addressing the need for non-sputum diagnostics. The technology is currently being evaluated in the UnPAQ clinical study and will undergo further validation through the PRECISION programme. MiDx is progressing regulatory planning across the UK, Europe and the US, with commercial launch targeted for 2028–2029.
