Beyond Blood Diagnostics (BBD) is a deep-tech startup spun out of Imperial College London developing portable, patient-centric-blood diagnostics. Our first product line is a portable, point-of-care red blood-cell counter, now being commercialised with ~£500k in pre-orders, providing a strong base for our core technology. BBD has obtained LOIs from Thriva, and Thermofischer Ltd. BBD has secured InnovateUK-grants demonstrating capability&translation: a home-based blood cell counting system (SmartGrants2022, £431k), PREDICT-ONC G-CSF dosing tool (AdvancingPrecisionMedicine 2023, £571k), and an AI-microfluidics diagnostic for cell therapy management (UK-GermanyCR&D, £540k). Most relevantly, our quantum technology enabled blood diagnostics project with Canadian partners (£1.23M, 2022-24) established the foundation for our current silicon quantum dot(SiQD) work. Our second-product line is a heavy-metal-free SiQD-theranostic component for breast-cancer circulating tumour cells (CTCs). The construct integrates light-based confirmation with medical imaging and quantitative readouts, using aptamers for accurate blood flow, enabling personalized-treatment planning by linking patient-specific tumor biology to targeting and dose-decisions.
