Lancaster University LGBTQ Science Activity Day

-
In-person
UK
Lancaster University is organising an LGBTQ+ Science activity day for the local community on the 7th of June (Pride month) at the Gregson Centre in Lancaster.

In the main hall, we will have a variety of stalls including interactive science activities such as "create a density rainbow", a wearable pride keepsake, and an erased LGBTQ+ scientist biography display and LGBTQ+ themed research talks in the cinema.

Overall, we want to provide a fun and inclusive space for members of the community to explore science, raise awareness of LGBTQ+ scientists, and meet LGBTQ+ scientists, role models and allies.

We would also appreciate a contribution towards the costs of the event. We are seeking a contribution of £200 (ex VAT) which would help to fund activity consumables, venue costs, and student ambassador time.

Possible ideas for industry sponsors could be a career bio – "meet a scientist/ how did you get to this career/ a day in the life of a scientist/technician/engineer at your company”, explore the technology, or a mini-science activity related to the company, etc.

No need to be from the LGTBQ+ community, everyone is welcome to join and support the day!
