Digital Careers Fair brings together Talent and Industry

Inspiring and supporting the next generation of students into the life science sector is an incredibly important part of the work that Bionow focuses upon with our University Sponsors and Members and with the world turning digital this year we were keen to ensure that students still had access to companies to consider their career path and with this came the inception of the Bionow Digital Life Science Careers Fair.

The 2020 Bionow Digital Life Sciences Careers Fair took place on the 18th – 20th November and was the latest in a long line of innovative initiatives by Bionow to continue to bring the sector together and working with our Universities we were delighted to be able to attract more than 900 students to the event.

The free to attend event was designed to help inform university under-graduates, graduates and post-graduates about the vast array of career paths available in Life Sciences and with excellent opportunities available across the Biomedical and Pharmaceutical sectors and beyond, with companies large and small, spin outs and start-ups, the question to the students was ‘which path will you take?’.
 
Companies from all sections of the Bionow community came together to present to students on the internships and graduate vacancies that they have available and by giving an insight into a ‘day in the life of’ they ultimately helped them to realise their career ambitions and open their eyes to opportunities that some had never considered. In addition the students were also given tips on CV writing and interview techniques and the discussions between the students and companies continued long after the event had finished.

To help students navigate the life science sector, we had presentations from companies specialising in  Pharma Manufacturing, Fully Integrated Drug Development, Analytical Sciences, Technical Services, MedTech, Drug Discovery and Drug Development and Professional Support Services and we would like to take this opportunity to thank SRG, AstraZeneca, Allergan, Elanco, Cobra Biologics, Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), Infex Therapeutics, Hart Biologicals, Catalent, QIAGEN, QV Bioelectronics, RSSL, Datatrial, LightOx, Kinomica, North East LEP, Cryoniss, Mills & Reeve, Sai Life Sciences, Professional Internships for PHd's (PIP's), Cresset, Leica Biosystems, NewChem Technologies, Arcinova, YourGene Health, Apis Assay, TEVA, Marks & Clerk, Cambrex, Pefectus Biomed, Neotherix, Team Compliance, RSM, Science Solutions Recruitment, GSK, Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The event successfully provided students with some very useful insights into the myriad of career paths the Life Sciences sector provides, and participating companies made lasting connections with young talent.  The feedback on the event has been excellent and the Bionow team look forward to hosting  the event again in March 2021.
