ATTC Network Programme Manager - Manchester -

Purpose of the Role

The position of CGT Network Programme Manager is one of multidisciplinary and pan-Centre programme management, highly visible to the ATTC and CGT operational and executive management teams. The individuals will work collaboratively, generating project plans and budgets, and delivering upon these structured development programmes.

A successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day to day management of the assigned projects, and in addition, will:

  • Develop detailed work breakdown structures and project plans to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes, working closely with all collaborators and Centre and Network senior management teams.
  • Identify appropriate knowledge resource within and external to the ATTCs to generate coherent project plans.
  • Work closely with Centre leads and partners (internal and external) and other key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project outputs to schedule and within budget.
  • Set budgets for programmes and agree costs with relevant senior managers.
  • Identify and coordinate suitable resource to deliver on projects
  • High level of communication to all stakeholders; within project team, the ATTC executive and operational groups, collaborators and key stakeholders

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure delivery of projects through detailed project planning, problem solving and collaborative coordinated teamwork to deliver on milestones to time, quality and budget
  • Clear reporting to stakeholders
  • Write detailed technical programme of works in collaboration with internal disciplinary experts, scope out resource needs, compile budgets and spend forecasts.
  • Contribute to grant applications, both singly and within consortia.
  • Negotiation, in conjunction with colleagues, of collaborative and service contracts


  • Proven ability to consistently deliver projects to time, cost and quality standards
  • Experience of project management through working in either: biotech, biopharma, CMO, CRO, clinical trials, supply chain and the NHS sector. Substantial programme management experience in one or a number of the following would be advantageous; clinical trial, supply chain development, IT projects delivered under GAMP5 would be advantageous.
  • Broad scientific and commercial technical expertise with ability to apply knowledge to problem solving
  • Higher degree or equivalent employment experience within the cell therapy/NHS sector

  • Ability to present highly complex and sensitive or contentious information, where there are significant barriers to understanding.

  • Proven ability to engage constructively with colleagues at all levels across different departments to deliver objectives
  • Personal drive to help push adoption of these disruptive technologies to the NHS

Education / Qualifications

  • Educated to a higher Degree level in a life sciences subject or equivalent
