Contract: 6 Month Temporary Contract

SRG are currently working with a leading pharmaceutical organisation in the North West, who are one of the leading suppliers to the NHS for generic and specialiity medicines. They are currently looking for graduates and experienced microbiology technicians to join their Microbiology department on an initial contract basis. As a Microbiology Technician, you would function to provide data through microbiological testing regimes, through which confidence in the microbiological quality/sterility of the finished product can be founded. Provide technical report support to production on microbiological / hygiene and contamination control issues. To support the day to day running of the laboratory and to ensure validation activities and non-routine testing is completed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

- Competent in all current routine product testing as detailed for a Level 1 technician.

- Competent in Preservative Efficacy Testing according with written procedures.

- Capable of Method development (including complex protocol writing and implementation) and validation for new products and manufacturing consumables with a microbial impact. 

- Provide training and guidance to Level 1 technicians. Write and implement training programs for new staff.

- Reporting and investigation of OOS microbiological results through the NCR system. Problem solving of microbial and contamination / hygiene issues. 

- Qualification of new equipment. Write and implement protocols for the qualification of new laboratory equipment. 

- Organisation of the laboratory work to ensure cGMP, GLP standards are met Ensure equipment in use is within calibration and arrange for external calibration of equipment as required. Ensure product testing is completed to meet agreed despatch plans    and internal performance indicators.

- Job holders should demonstrate a pro-active approach to all aspects of laboratory work. The job holder should also show initiative with respect to planning and organisation of issues which affect the microbiology laboratory workload. Anticipation of   problems and the ability to offer structured problem solving advice.

 

 

Requirements:

 

- BSc in Microbiology or related scientific discipline.

- Able to communicate both orally and in the written format to personnel at all levels.

- Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of quality as defined in relevant guidelines (i.e. USP, EP ISO etc.

- Computer literate and familiar with most Office software.
