The main duties of the role are to:

• To design and implement experimental plans
• To accurately record the experiments performed (including writing reports) and ensure full documentation compliant with R&D quality procedures
• To be involved in process technology transfers from client companies into R&D, if required. To prepare reports and presentations for internal and external use in a suitable and professional manner. Some guidance may be required for technical content and R&D standards.

Candidates looking to apply for these roles must have a high level Life science degree, or a PhD in Mammalian Cell Culture or other relevant subject. Equivalent industrial exposure will also be considered
.
Other requirements include:

• Experience of the operation and control of stirred tank, laboratory scale (1-10L) mammalian cell culture bioreactors
• Experience with high throughput cell line screening technologies, such as the ambr™ systems
• Experience of the operation and control of large scale (up to 200L) mammalian cell culture bioreactors
• Experience of mammalian cell culture, preferably in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry setting
• In depth Knowledge of mammalian (CHO) process development and optimisation
• Good aseptic technique
• Able to perform calculations required for cell culture (for example, calculating growth rate, cell number manipulations, basic statistics)
• Line management/supervision of research staff (senior)
• In depth knowledge of cell culture methods
• Experience working to GMP standards in an industrial laboratory.
